Beach Boys Retrospective Introduction

What is this blog?

Well, it is a retrospective on the studio albums of The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson. I will also cover the studio albums of Dennis and Carl Wilson.

 How does this work?

I'm not sure. I just felt like writing about each album in order of release. I will talk about the tracks, go over some anecdotal and hastily researched historical items, and provide my generally uninformed opinions on the albums. I'll stop writing when I do them all. I think that might be how a blog can work.

 Why?

I feel like it. I recently saw Brian Wilson in concert (New Orleans) and my Beach Boys enthusiasm is high. I was just going to write my retrospective in MS word and hide it on my computer, but I figured maybe it could be nice to have some humans read and comment. If nobody reads it, or they do and they think I am a twit, so be it.

 Who are you?

I'm Timothy Payne Jr., a high school math teacher who is from New Jersey but currently lives in New Orleans, LA. I've been obsessed with the Beach Boys since college. I have two very good friends (Edmund and Aliah) who were also becoming obsessed during college, and we had many conversations in which we referred to members of the band by their first names, conversations that drove our fervor with the band to unnecessary levels. One time Ed and I tried to a do a cover of a song from Summer in Paradise. Yikes. I hope we do it again.
